Renishaw to showcase RenAM 500M metal additive manufacturing machine at Paris Air Show

Renishaw will provide demonstrations from stand G188, Hall B, UK Pavilion.

Global engineering firm, Renishaw is set to showcase its flagship RenAM 500M metal additive manufacturing machine at next month’s Pairs Air Show.

The 52nd edition of the show, it will be Renishaw’s first time exhibiting its additive manufacturing technology at the international event. Renishaw will provide demonstrations of the metal 3D printer, and its build preparation software, QuantAM, from stand G188, Hall B, UK Pavilion.

Renishaw’s RenAM 500M machine utilises laser powder bed fusion technology, and has been developed for serialised production of metal components. The company believes it offers increased automation and reduced operator touch time. QuantAM 2017 is the latest version of its build file preparation software, compatible with Renishaw AM systems. It allows users to edit the build file, optimise the machine settings and process parameters to suit the material and geometry of the part being processed.

Clive Martell, the Head of Renishaw’s Global Additive Manufacturing department, is looking forward to presenting the company’s metal additive manufacturing technologies at a show which celebrates an industry that has benefitted so much from additive manufacturing.

“The aerospace industry was an early adopter of additive manufacturing and is rapidly taking advantage of its benefits,” Martell said. “As part of the Renishaw commitment to industrialising AM we have developed intuitive software and systems and we are supporting the adoption of AM via our global network of Solutions Centres, where customers can evaluate Renishaw technology and the benefits of AM in a safe environment, at predictable costs, before investing in equipment.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the technology Renishaw is contributing to Land Rover BAR, the British Challenger for the 35th America’s Cup. Land Rover BAR has aligned itself with Renishaw in its bid to leverage advanced technologies to provide the team with a competitive edge. Aiming to create a boat capable of winning the America’s Cup, Land Rover BAR has utilised Renishaw’s expertise in metal additive manufacturing and encoder technology, producing end-use parts for its racing catamaran. These bespoke parts will be presented to Paris Air Show attendees next month.

The 52nd international Paris Air Show is held at Le Bourget Parc des Expositions, and will run from June 19th-25th 2017.
