Polaroid 3D Printer
Polaroid brings desktop 3D printer to TCT Show for the first time.
Unveiled at CES in January, the desktop machine is being brought to the market through a three-year partnership between Polaroid and UK-based manufacturer, Environmental Business Products (EBP), Europe’s largest collector and re-manufacturer of inkjet cartridges.
Joining the flurry of well-known brands bringing 3D technologies to the market this year, these colourful machines are the first desktop 3D printers to be launched by a household name, designed to make 3D printing simple for schools, offices and homes with a completely plug-and-play setup.
The machine benefits from Polaroid Prep printing software, a simple yet comprehensive platform for effortless preparation, editing and printing of your models in “just two clicks” according to Polaroid. Users are able to print standalone via SD card, or connected via PC.
Users can print in multiple colours using a simple function in Polaroid Prep. Polaroid has released a choice of 9 proprietary PLA colours and a sawdust base, wood filament. A unique smartchip on the filament cartridge ensures that sufficient material is available to finish a print, providing an expected print time and accurate filament usage information before each print.
Other key features include a large print area 250(w) x 150(h) x 150(d) mm, automatic bed levelling and calibration, adjustable layer-height (50 to 350 microns), adjustable print speed (20 to 100mm/s) and an in-built wi-fi camera for remote monitoring of your prints. To machine also uses Z-Axis Sheets to make part removal from the print bed, pain free. These transparent double-sided adhesive sheets are applied to the print bed before printing to ensure robust model adhesion during print and super-easy model removal post-print.
Polaroid will host printing and software demonstrations on stand A33. TCT Show takes place on 28-29th September at NEC, Birmingham UK. Visitors can register for FREE here.
