Shane Fox, Product Manager of Autodesk Within talks to TCT about the company's new software solution for the medical industry, Within Medical and how it is revolutionising patient-specific additive manufacturing. Using the power of generative design, this biomedical software solution is capable of producing optimised designs for medical implants that assimilate the organic formation of bones and can be made with additive manufacturing to provide better patient outcomes.
“Within Medical is a biomedical software solution utilising additive manufacturing in the orthopaedic industry,” Shane explains. “The first thing that makes it so unique is it’s 3D printed in Ti64 Titanium and what our software does is it allows you to optimise a solid geometry utilising our micro lattice technology. 90% of our clients utilise the lattice technology for osseointegration – the way that the human bone grows into a tangible or foreign object.”
