3D Systems has announced a 30% cut to the price of its production-ready ProX SLS 500 3D printing system in North America and Europe.
The decision has been made in an attempt to increase market share and adoption of the technology as more companies continue to leverage additive manufacturing methods. Pricing now starts at $270,000 and €250,000 in North America and Europe respectively.
Featuring an impressively broad portfolio of compatible materials, 3D Systems’ SLS technology is a particularly versatile solution. Able to print a wide range of parts and build sizes from interior components for aircraft, to large production tooling for high-volume and small patient-specific medical applications, 3D Systems believe the price reduction of the ProX SLS 500 resembles an attractive option for professionals.
“The ProX SLS 500 is winning deals today because of its superior capabilities; the new price point makes it accessible to additional customers, which we believe will enable us to increase our installed base faster and be more competitive in the market,” said Jim Ruder, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Plastics, 3D Systems. “We will continue to invest in SLS to expand our leadership position and help accelerate the shift to 3D printing production.”
3D Systems’ ProX SLS 500 uses a wide range of DuraForm materials from tough nylon for production parts, to high-temperature resistant fibre-reinforced engineering plastic, to glass-filled engineering plastic for maximum stiffness. Optimising, validating and testing DuraForm plastics, they combine surface detail, part strength, and durability for high quality end-use parts.
Additionally, the ProX SLS 500 boasts high recyclability of materials. Up to 95% of material used in a build is turned into parts, resulting in minimal waste and lower part cost. With automated material handling and production tools streamlining workflows, the ProX SLS 500 can produce parts up to seven times faster than comparable FDM systems, according to 3D Systems.
