EOS M 290 DMLS system
This latest purchase of EOS machines follows the prior installation of two M290s.
German manufacturer, EOS has announced it has delivered two EOS M 290 systems and an EOS M 400 to Morf3D’s Innovation Center in El Segundo, California.
EOS has also this week appointed a new Director of its North American division, and expanded its North American Sales Operation with two high profile additions. The developments in North America come as EOS continues to concentrate on Midwest growth.
The partnership with Morf3D, EOS say, will enable the additive manufacturing and engineering service provider to benefit from the precision, quality and repeatability of its AM systems. The M 290s and M 400 will support Morf3D’s anticipated production and new development contracts, from major aerospace, defence and industrial customers, and expand the company’s metal 3D printing capacity at its 6,800-square foot facility in El Segundo.
Opened in September 2015, Morf3D’s Innovation Center provides clients with all-inclusive AM technology services. This latest purchase of EOS machines follows the prior installation of two M290s. With this expansion in metal additive manufacturing equipment, Morf3D will work to increase its materials scope beyond aluminium and titanium materials to include Inconnel and other alloys.

Meanwhile, as well as boosting a partner’s service, EOS has also reinforced its North American division. Yesterday, the company announced Gregory Hayes as the new Director of North America Applications and Consulting for EOS North America. Hayes will take responsibility of the new Additive Minds consultancy group for North America, which partners with companies to increase their competitive edge defining and developing AM applications.

As a strategic technology development consultant with deep expertise in high-end R&D, Hayes has worked internationally across the health IT, high-tech and aerospace industries. Most recently, Hayes co-founded Complex Materials, a bespoke bioresorbable materials company with a focus on magnesium alloy stent tubing. Previous to that, he was a program manager and director of new partnerships for AM TNO, where he managed research programs, funding and partner acquisition. Hayes also holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Pennsylvania State University.

EOS has also recruited John W. Pendleton and Josh Dennis to bolster the company’s presence in North America. Dennis will be responsible for expanding EOS’ leadership in the medical sector, while Pendleton will be focusing on growing EOS’ presence in prototyping.
Both Pendleton and Dennis have deep expertise in AM having worked with other notable brands in the industry. The former was previously responsible for growth within the metal AM market at GPI Prototype & Manufacturing, while the latter has represented +GF+ Machining Solutions, EOS, Erowa Tooling and Alternative Machine Tool at EDM Systems.
