i-AMdigital
A free interactive platform called i-AMdigital and designed to help enhance skills and fulfil career opportunities in the additive manufacturing space will launch in the New Year.
The start-up organisation is wanting to enable the widespread adoption of additive manufacturing technologies by bridging the skills gap through educational programs, community, jobs, and internships. I-AMdigital has partnered with the likes of MIT and the MTC, who all offer courses relative to additive manufacturing, while inspiring and informative stories can be told through the i-AMdigital community. The platform will also enable industrial players to promote jobs, freelance opportunities, and other work placements offerings.
More than 700 professionals are said to have already signed up to the landing page pre-launch, with HP also offering its backing through the supply of online resources. Upon registering their interest in the programme, the 700 professionals will have completed a short survey for the i-AMdigital platform to cater content for each individual person. Through smart matching, users will receive suggestions based on their interest in i-AMdigital (jobs, training, community, case studies, or companies), their level of experience with additive manufacturing, their current discipline, and their current employer.
The i-AMdigital platform hopes to keep up with the level of innovation within the AM sector, and is hoping, by delivering tailored educational content to its users, will help to tackle the skills gap.
“The additive manufacturing industry continues to innovate with new technologies being launched year after year. The growth of the market brings greater demands for skills, which simply is not being met,” commented Nick Pearce, co-founder of i-AMdigital and Director of Alexander Daniels Global. “Organisations are finding it harder to identify and attract talent. At the same time, the learning and development landscape for additive manufacturing is very fragmented. This makes it difficult for individuals and organisations alike to access courses that can help them upskill.”
The i-AMdigital platform will go live in January 2019.
