UK-based modelmaking and prototyping company, Ogle Models has purchased its largest 3D printer to date to expand printing capabilities at its Letchworth facility.
The large-format stereolithography (SLA) system, known as the NEO800, was designed and manufactured by engineers at RPS, another UK company with over 100 years of combined experience working in SLA and laser sintering. First launched at TCT Show back in 2016, the system features a build frame of 800 x 800 x 600mm which will allow Ogle Models to create large, highly detailed SLA parts in a single print.
Len Martin, Managing Director at Ogle, said: “We’re always one step ahead of the game and completely committed to upgrading our equipment, ensuring we purchase the best kit out there.
“The Neo 800 adds capacity and flexibility, so we can make larger parts without splitting them. It produces superior quality parts straight off, significantly reducing finishing times and still retaining the crisp accuracy and detail that our customers have come to expect from our prototypes.
In addition to a scanning resolution within 1 micron which significantly reduces finishing time by up to 50%, the NEO800 is a fully open system which gives users the ability to run virtually any resin material.
Len added: “We had free reign of material choice, so we opted for the Evolve 128 by Somos. It is an extremely durable SLA material that’s capable of producing accurate, highly detailed quality parts that can be hand finished easily.”
