SLM Solutions has moved into a new €25m complex which will act as the headquarters for its production and administrative activities.
The company is today hosting an Open House to celebrate the opening of its new HQ.
The 270,000 square-foot facility keeps the company in Lübeck, Germany, but represents a 56% increase in space over the previous HQ, and with 70,000m² of property area, has room for further expansions in line with its growth strategy.
With the launch of the new facility, SLM Solutions has established an additive manufacturing applications technology centre within the new building to assist its customer base in the development of processes and streamlined production workflows around its portfolio of selective laser melting systems. There are now also dedicated classrooms with machines installed to train and consult customers end-to-end, and the new HQ also includes space for corporate sales and administration offices, as well as a spare parts warehouse and service department.
“We have created contemporary and modern workstations for our employees,” commented Daniela Wedemeyer, Commercial Director of SLM Solutions Group AG. “In addition, there is ample space for further expansion as we continue to grow in the future.”
SLM Solutions has been based in Lübeck since 1957, when it was known as MCP, or Mining and Chemical Products. Through the next few decades, the company began working in metals, prototype tooling, and vacuum casting, before opening a rapid prototyping centre in 1998 and introducing the SLM trademark in 2000. In 2008, MCP's name was changed to MTT Technologies Group, and in 2010, MTT Technologies GmbH and MTT Technologies Ltd separated. A year later, the former was rebranded as SLM Solutions.
Today, SLM Solutions stands as one of the leading players in the metal additive manufacturing sector, offering high-performance production systems, multiple ancillary technologies, metal powders, and training and E-learning services.
