Today at LMT Lab Day in Chicago, Stratasys is debuting its latest machine which promises “new levels of realism” for the dental industry.
The new J720 Dental multi-material 3D printer is said to deliver high resolution, patient specific dental models with over 500,000 colour combinations. Stratasys claims the machine can compete with high-end DLP and stereolithography dental systems with a throughput rate at 1.75 times that of current solutions on the market.
The J720 features a large build tray which allows up to six materials to be printed simultaneously, meaning dental labs can accommodate a range of applications in one print job and as a result, increase case volume and reduce labour associated with print management.

The technology has been designed to allow professionals to create realistic patient-specific treatment models, even simulating the feel of soft-tissue, which can be used to visualise procedures and increase patient awareness with accurate personalised representations before beginning treatment.
The technology is being supported by Stratasys GrabCAD Print software which simplifies the transition from CAD model to 3D printed part, and is capable of streamlining job management, particularly useful for larger labs running multiple machines at once. The software is also cloud-enabled, making it easier for technicians to conduct remote print monitoring from a single source.
The machine is being exhibited in Chicago this week and will be available on the market in May.
