Professional desktop 3D printing company, Ultimaker is building a Print Cluster Management software solution to work in conjunction with its latest printer and CURA print slicing software.
The software will enable engineers, designers to work more efficiently with Ultimaker 3 printers in a fully integrated environment. Specifically, Ultimaker has revealed that users will be able to oversee prototyping, tooling and small-scale production across an organisation, manage clusters of Ultimaker 3s directly from CURA. Ultimaker customers will also now have the ability to select printers, queue jobs, monitor and prints and receive notifications.
“At Ultimaker, we continuously listen to our customers and their needs are what spurs the improvement and development of our solutions,” said Paul Heiden, SVP of Product Management at Ultimaker. “With the Ultimaker 3, desktop 3D printing with industrial-grade materials became a reality. Demand for clusters of multiple 3D printers has grown and so has the need to better manage and control them. That’s where our new Print Cluster Management software comes in.”
Last month, Ultimaker North America President, John Kawola spoke exclusively to TCT Magazine to discuss desktop 3D printing and, among other things, its journey into the professional manufacturers’ thoughts as a viable solution. Kawola, speaking from his experiences at Ultimaker, said many large-scale manufacturers would prefer to house a farm of 12 Ultimakers, rather than a single industrial machine. He reasoned, if one Ultimaker out of 12 is faulty there is still 11 remaining printers to pick up the workload, but if the single industrial machine is faulty, production is halted.
To make this system even more attractive for Ultimaker customers, the Cluster Management Software has been developed, giving the user greater control of his/ her cluster of machines. Ultimaker has also revealed another tool will soon be added to the Print Cluster Management software, making professional 3D printing with its machines even more accessible.
