3d-systems-Advanced-Additive-Manufacturing Centre
3D Systems’ On Demand Advanced Additive Manufacturing Centre includes more than 30 polymer 3D printers in a range of technologies.
3D Systems has expanded the capacity of its On-Demand service within Europe with the opening of a new additive manufacturing facility in Pinerolo, Italy.
The new Advanced AM Centre has been established in a building adjacent to another of its On-Demand locations, an ISO-9001 certified production facility, and supplements a host of other European bases. 3D Systems On-Demand has so far established factories in The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, and the UK.
This new facility will harness subtractive and additive manufacturing technologies to serve its customers in a variety of vertical markets, who continue to order prototypes, appearance models, and end-use parts. Within this repertoire of manufacturing technologies are 30 polymer 3D printing systems powered by SLA, DLP, and SLS processes, and machines for vacuum casting, 5-axis CNC processing, injection moulding, and spark/ wire EDM.
“Through this expanded facility, we are offering a creative solution to our customers’ product development challenges which are bolstered by a breadth of leading-edge technologies and deep applications expertise,” commented Phil Schultz, EVP, Operations, 3D Systems. “We are excited that our new Advanced Additive manufacturing Centre of Excellence here in Pinerolo, T/O, Italy will enable us to offer our customers the fastest production available to meet their challenges and support competitive advantage.”
“The intent of bringing all SLA and SLS in activity in a new centre of excellence is to not only expand capacity for additive manufacturing and prototyping, but to increase the speed of delivery and the quality of the service due to our enhanced process automation,” added Marco Maio, General Manager, 3D Systems On Demand, Pinerolo, T/O, Italy. “Through this expansion, we are also making a significant, positive impact on the local economy. A necessity for delivering on the increased demand is to ensure we have the right talent on board to deliver. This has necessitated significant investment in hiring a skilled workforce to operate these machines and meet our customers’ needs.”
