3D Systems has announced the arrival of John J. Tracy, formerly of Boeing, to the company’s Board of Directors as the company steps up its commitment to serving the aerospace industry.
For years, 3D Systems has been one of the go-to 3D printing companies for players in the aerospace sector looking for rapid manufacturing solutions. Companies have leant on the additive manufacturing capabilities of 3D Systems to optimise parts and assemblies for space exploration, on satellites, lunar rovers, and a Nasa Apollo F-1 Rocket Engine, among other applications.

Tracy, the former Chief Technology Officer of Boeing, has more than 37 years in the aerospace sector. 3D Systems cited Tracy’s leadership qualities in technology, operations, quality and engineering from several aerospace companies. These include Hercules Aerospace Company, McDonnell Douglas Corporation, and of course, The Boeing Company. He was CTO at Boeing for ten years, between 2006 and 2016. In the same time he also held positions as the company’s Senior Vice President of the Engineering, Operations and Technology division.
Bringing expertise in aircraft manufacturing, structure and materials, 3D Systems is confident it can accelerate its focus on the aerospace industry.
