French online 3D printing platform, Freelabster, has announced it will soon be opening its services to the UK market.
Freelabster provides a virtual meeting point so that both 3D printing and modelling enthusiasts can offer their services to the general public. The concept for the Freelabster platform was derived in an attempt to make 3D printing a more accessible and affordable option. An A-Z service from modelling to printing, the Freelabster platform caters not only for individual projects but also professionals.
Founded by Benjamin Pestel, Stan Gobert and Melissa Ibghi, the award-winning company is starting to expand to an international scale. Having already forged a number of partnerships with companies such as Boulanger, as well as building networks in France and Italy, the next step is to crack the UK market.
“The idea is a simple one but it responds to the fast-moving technological market” said Pestel. “New technology is always costly but this is a way of making 3D printing and all its magic accessible to all. I see the UK as a kind of launch pad to global trading. Success in the UK will create for us a scalability pattern which can be used as a model for other English speaking markets.
“Freelabster offers something unique to the UK – a complete A-Z service from modelling to 3D printing. We eliminate the bottle-neck in 3D printing which is often ‘I want to 3D print but I don’t know how or indeed what.’”
A big part of Freelabster’s success has been an emphasis on trust, quality and innovation. Service has remained efficient because of the excellence of the support system offered. Said support system encourages a real dialogue and exchange of ideas within the Freelabster community.
All 3D printers who join the Freelabster community are required to undergo a certification process to assess their skills, and once completed successfully, it allows unlimited access to bid on projects. This process ensures that clients always receive the best quality service as well as a good ‘customer-client fit’. With all members able to participate, it guarantees Freelabster clients will come away with a great product, and potential to further utilise the platform.
Now ready to open its virtual doors to the UK market, Pestel, Freelabster’s principal founder, is aiming for the company to become the proffered 3D printing and modelling solution for both Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer sectors within the next five years. Born in the South of France, Pestel has been displaying his entrepreneurial flair since his mid-teens. Launching his own internet company at the age of 14, he went on to attend Skema, the prestigious Business School in Nice. After graduating in 2013, he started his professional career in Hong Kong with AsiaOctans, a 2D printing company.
“[I started my career in Asia] simply for a taste of adventure,” Pestel added. “I knew if I did not do it immediately, I would never do it. With hindsight it has been probably one of the best ways to start professional life simply because you are faced with a quick learning curve and you have the advantage of being able to separate more easily your personal and professional life.”
Since returning to Europe, the self-proclaimed 3D printing enthusiast has been committed to providing an effective 3D printing platform, which Pestel is confident will help further promote the use of the technology.
