GE Additive’s metal additive manufacturing (AM) powder company, AP&C, is expanding its capabilities with the purchase of a new site in Saint-Eustache, Quebec, Canada.
AP&C has been operating from the Saint-Eustache Innoparc Albatros park just outside Montreal since 2016 and already employs some 100 people at its Allée du golf facility. The purchase of this new 40,000 square metre plot, which was completed by Saint-Eustache Mayor Pierre Charron and AP&C CEO Alain Dupont last week, will be used to consolidate AP&C’s expansion efforts, increasing the number of high added-value jobs in the area.
“We are thrilled to work with the dynamic Ville de Saint-Eustache team. Our firm is currently enjoying rapid growth and we need more space for our projects, along with a good location for drawing fresh talent. Innoparc Albatros meets both of these urgent needs. It is clear that AP&C’s future is right here in Québec and, in particular, Saint-Eustache” Mr. Dupont said at a press briefing.
Mayor Pierre Charron added, “We are extremely proud that AP&C, the flagship of its industry, has decided to multiply its activities in Innoparc Albatros, thereby making big contributions to Saint-Eustache’s economy. Innovation breeds more innovation and we are confident that AP&C’s increased presence will bring new businesses to our techno-park and encourage other hi tech firms to come here.”
AP&C specialises in the production and distribution of spherical metal powders for use in AM, primarily the aerospace and biomedical sectors. It’s proprietary Advanced Plasma Atomisation (APA) process uses plasma to simultaneously melt wire feedstock and atomise the melt into spherical powders which offer good flowability, purity and density with low levels of porosity, highly sought after in the AM industry. The company is a global leader in the production of titanium and nickel alloys and distributes its products in more than 40 nations.
