HP has launched its unique 3D imaging PC, Sprout Pro at CES’s 2017 Unveiled show
Global tech brand, HP has launched its unique 3D imaging PC, Sprout Pro at CES’s Unveiled show yesterday.
The computer system, which is an upgraded version of the Sprout released in 2014, brings an advanced set of capabilities to the market of digital imaging. HP’s new PC is equipped with a 3D scanning module, projector, cameras and a Touch Mat with a stylus.
The 21.3-inch Touch Mat lays flat on the work surface and acts as a secondary display, akin to a Nintendo DS game console. Images are projected onto this mate with the Sprout Illuminator, which also holds the PC’s14.6 megapixel downward-facing camera. Additionally, the Touch Mat can take 20-point touch input as well as a digital stylus, allowing the user to write, draw or use their hands.
Users of the PC can design with the Illuminator’s camera which works with HP software to create 2D or 3D images of objects held underneath it. And now the PC can work with Windows 10, rather than its lesser qualified predecessor Windows 8 which the original Sprout had to contend with, as well as the 3D capabilities which the Creators Update will bring, HP’s new technology will be increasingly efficient.

Similar to the original Sprout PC, the Sprout Pro is being considered as the most suitable creative computer for artists, designers, engineers and any other professional who uses 3D scanning and printing technologies in their line of work. As well as this, it is recommended for users in education, manufacturing and retail. In the latter, for example, customers would be able to personalise a product using the Touch Mat and Illuminator to their satisfaction before purchasing. While in manufacturing, the same features can be used to train workers on assembly lines.
The Sprout Pro will run on Intel’s 7th-generation Kaby Lake desktop CPU, specifically the quad-core 2.9GHz Core i7-7700T with integrated HD Graphics 630. It also boasts Nvidia’s GeForce GT 960M mobile Graphics Processing Unit with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. The vertical display monitor is sized at 23.8 inches, full high definition (1920x1080) with 10-point touch. Expected to begin shipping in March, HP have not yet revealed a price, though it is expected to be more expensive than the $1,600 original Sprout PC.
HP will be showcasing the Sprout Pro and a range of other technologies for the remainder of CES 2017 at booths #32049 and #36414 in South Hall 3 and 4 respectively.
