MakerBot is featuring at the MoMa Design Store Destination: NYC - Made in the USA, which showcases a select number of New York-based designers.
As part of the MoMa Design Store Destination: NYC - Made in the USA programme, MakerBot will show off its Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer in addition to its iconic Big Apple-themed 3D printed novelty items, which includes the New York Public Library Lions, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty and a New York taxi cab amongst others.
Chief Executive Officer of MakerBot Bre Pettis said how proud he and his colleagues are to have been invited to participate in the MoMa Design event.
"MakerBots are made with Brooklyn pride and this is a great venue to showcase how 3D printing is helping fuel the next industrial revolution – right here in New York. And the 3D printed MakerBot-made iconic New York scenes are something special to take home," he added.
Destination: NYC - Made in the USA is the MoMa Design Store's 11th event in the Destination: Design series. The collection includes around 200 lifestyle products by 75 New York designers, including home accessories, furniture, 3D-printed items, jewellery and paper goods.
All products have been designed in one of the five New York City boroughs and are manufactured in the US.
Mr Pettis noted that MakerBot is helping to drive the next industrial revolution forward by offering desktop 3D printers that can be used in multifarious applications including design, manufacturing and education.
MakerBot's 3D Ecosystem makes the design and 3D printing process easier by offering tools and services that bring the design and 3D printing process closer together. Thingiverse, MakerWare and the MakerBot 3D Photo Booth are just some of the MakerBot products and services facilitating 3D printers everywhere.
MakerBot will be showcasing the capabilities of its 3D desktop printers at the MoMa Design Store on Spring Street and West 53rd Street in the Big Apple.
The Destination: NYC product collection will be available in both outlets until August 2013.
Director of Merchandising of MoMa's retail division Emmanuel Plat commented: "We are so impressed by the depth of local talent submitted during our Open Call for New York designers last year.
"The innovative products and unique designs truly reflect urban living and led us to create our largest collection to date."
