Metalysis Kazakhstan
Dr. Malek Deifallah, Director of Business Development at Metalysis, Carolyn Browne, British Ambassador to Kazakhstan, and Askar Sembin, Chief Investment officer of The Autonomous Cluster Fund (Almaty Tech Garden), sign the Metal Additive Manufacturing Partnership.
Metal powder development company, Metalysis has today signed a metal additive manufacturing partnership with the Autonomous Cluster Fund of Kazakhstan.
A signing ceremony was held in Astana, Kazakhstan and was attended by representatives from both parties. Together, the partners will use Metalysis’ electrochemical process, a disruptive technology for solid-state metals and novel alloys production – to develop metal and bespoke alloy powders suitable for additive manufacturing.
The Autonomous Cluster Fund of Kazakhstan is a managing company of ‘SEZ PIT’, Special Economic Zone Park for Innovative Technologies, and ‘Almaty TechGarden’ Innovative Cluster. It has aligned with Metalysis in a bid to pursue the Republic of Kazakhstan’s diversifying economy.
Metalysis’ Materials Discovery Centre, which is based within South Yorkshire’s Advanced Manufacturing Park Innovation District, will host a research and development programme. Subject to its findings, the partners will then seek to develop Kazakhstan’s metal additive manufacturing industry, basing their efforts within the Autonomous Cluster Fund’s Park of Innovative Technologies; weighing opportunities for in-country production of metal alloys powders and printing commercial products using AM techniques.
“For the purposes of adhering to the priorities outlined in the President’s Address, we are working to grow new industries with the use of digital technologies,” said Sanzhar Kettebekov, CEO of Autonomous Cluster Fund (Almaty Tech Garden). “Our cooperation with Metalysis is aimed to develop Kazakhstan’s industry sector in the field of metal additives production. We are delighted to have established such a partnership, which will contribute to the diversification of the economy of Kazakhstan.”

The Park of Innovative technologies is heralded as Kazakhstan’s Silicon Valley and is the focal point for the national adoption of a capability-led approach to economic and industrial diversification. The partners believe Kazakhstan is well placed to prosper from the development on in-country metal additive manufacturing, citing its sustained development programme of economic and industrial frameworks, which can build on the country’s geological endowment and knowledge in natural resource extraction.
