Optomec LENS component repair
Optomec’s LENS systems use high-powered lasers to build and repair metal structures layer by layer.
Metal 3D printing company, Optomec has signed a deal with Select Additive Technologies, a division of Morris Group, Inc. which specialises in additive manufacturing, to distribute its full range of Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS) systems via one of North America’s largest CNC machine tool networks.
Select Additive Technologies brings additive manufacturing solutions to market via the Morris Group, Inc. owned distribution network, and has already established a number of partnerships with leading 3D printing companies including Desktop Metal and BigRep. The company believes the addition of Optomec’s LENS technology will enhances its end-to-end suite of advanced solutions for precision metal part repair and production.
Jeff Holtzapple, Business Development Manager, Select Additive Technologies commented: “Optomec integrates decades of experience in directed energy deposition (DED) into its LENS metal additive manufacturing solutions, resulting in high-quality, affordable metal 3D printing solutions that make complex metal parts easier, more precise, efficient and affordable to produce and repair.”
Select Additive Technologies will represent the full range of Optomec’s LENS systems, which use high-powered lasers to build metal and composite structures layer by layer. The systems are designed to cost-effectively repair, rework and manufacture fully dense, high-performance metal components with excellent mechanical and fatigue properties.
“Having the Optomec LENS product lines represented by Select Machining Technologies is a huge milestone in helping metal additive manufacturing gain deeper penetration into the industrial mainstream,” said Mr. Dave Ramahi, Optomec president and CEO. “With more than seventy-five years of manufacturing experience, knowledge and customer support, the distribution network with which they work serves industrial companies from virtually every industry. We could not ask for a better partner to help increase our exposure and reach in the US.”
Visitors to RAPID + TCT will be able to see the LENS 860 on display at the Cobo Center in Detroit on May 21-23 in booth #517.
