Renishaw FalconTech partnership
Shen Yu Lan, FalconTech Co. Ltd & Paul Gallagher, Renishaw (Hong Kong) Ltd sign partnership agreement.
Global 3D printing and metrology system manufacturer, Renishaw has announced FalconTech as a solutions centre partner and distributor in China.
Located in Jiangsu province, FalconTech operates in the rapid prototyping of high performance components for a range of spaces, including the aerospace, biomedical, marine and chemical industries.
The partnership will see FalconTech establish an Additive Manufacturing Solutions Centre in Wuxi. This facility will house Renishaw’s latest additive manufacturing systems and supported by the company’s extensive expertise in manufacturing solutions. Ten RenAM 500M metal additive manufacturing systems will be purchased by FalconTech over the next 18 months – the first three of these units will be installed before the end of July. In turn, Renishaw will purchase and promote FalconTech aerospace-grade titanium metal powders to its AM customers in China. The two companies will work together to develop and optimise these powders for use on current and future ranges of AM machines.
“We are excited to be a Renishaw Solutions Centre partner in China,” said Shen Yu Lan, Managing Director of FalconTech. “Combining FalconTech’s expertise in aerospace with Renishaw’s technology and manufacturing expertise, the Additive Manufacturing Solutions Centre can create a platform on which we can work in close partnership with customers to help them realise the benefits of AM in their products and manufacturing processes.”
Paul Gallagher, Managing Director and Vice President of Renishaw (Hong Kong) added: “This is an exciting new chapter for Renishaw in terms of our commitment to delivering the best solutions in additive manufacturing to key industries. The combination of FalconTech’s knowledge of aerospace and its existing capabilities, combined with Renishaw’s leading edge technology and manufacturing expertise, gives us a dynamic partnership to provide the latest and most effective manufacturing solutions.”

Renishaw Ontario centre
Renishaw's partnership with London Medical Netowrk and Ontario Western University will drive forward the innovation of medical instruments and products.
Renishaw has also highlighted its commitment to delivering AM to key industries by also entering a partnership worth $6.8 million with London Medical Network (LMN) and Ontario Western University, which will see a new research and development centre established.
The facility, called the Additive Design in Surgical Solutions (ADEISS) Centre and located at Western University’s Discovery Park, will drive forward the innovation of medical instruments and products. Using additive manufacturing methods, applications will be made for the dental and orthopaedic sectors, among other medical spaces. Renishaw, LMN and Western will also work alongside research, technical and business development teams from Robarts Research Institute and the Lawson Health Research Institute.
“Renishaw is very excited to be a fundamental part of the ADEISS program together with Western University and Robarts Research Institute. Following on from the great success of our European Medical Solution Center located in Miskin, South Wales, ADEISS will be crucial in Renishaw’s ability to impact the North American market,” said Dafydd Williams, President of Renishaw (Canada) Limited. “We anticipate this uniquely placed facility will yield many new innovations in both medical device design and the use of Additive Manufacturing technology to push the boundaries of current thinking and design in this technically very demanding field.”
ADEISS will focus on developing proprietary solutions, sharing knowledge between partners, and will create direct employment for approximately 20 knowledge workers.
