AstroPrint Cloud
AstroPrint's Cloud software can be accessed on desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.
Stanley Black and Decker is to leverage AstroPrint’s Enterprise Cloud software to implement a distributed network of 3D printing systems across multiple facilities.
The industrial tool manufacturer says its adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) is continuing to grow, with machines being installed across a number of locations around the world. AM is being harnessed to prototype new product designs and manufacture existing parts in small runs.
Stanley Black and Decker has sought to integrate the Enterprise Cloud software so its engineers can connect, control and optimise its fleet of 3D printers on a single platform, sharing resources and gaining intelligence on productivity and growth opportunities. Company management will be able to set permissions for different teams based on their respective responsibilities and review returns on investment (ROI), while external contractors and consultants may also be able to access the dashboard to provide assistance to ongoing projects.
AstroPrint was among the first start-up companies to align itself with Stanley Black and Decker’s Additive Manufacturing Accelerator, which was launched in late 2017. Through this programme, AstroPrint co-located at Stanley Black and Decker’s Center of Excellence in Hartford, CT, it worked to further develop its technology. In October last year, Stanley Black and Decker reported AstroPrint had obtained relationships with 20% of the 3D printing manufacturing market.
The company has now announced the implementation of the enterprise Cloud software, and is excited about the capabilities it can take advantage of.
“Thanks to this partnership, we will gain visibility into ROI, uptime, value, resource optimisation, and competence development in regards to 3D printer usage at Stanley Black and Decker,” commented Martin Guay, VP of Business Development at Stanley Black and Decker. “These are critical drivers for additive manufacturing success for every enterprise. We are confident that the AstroPrint software solution has a great deal of promise for us and for the industry.”
“We’ve been in the 3D printing industry for a long time now and we are proud to have pioneered one of the first software systems to manage 3D printers through the cloud,” added Drew Taylor, CEO of AstroPrint. “It’s now time for us to anticipate the needs and bottlenecks that large, multi-location companies, such as Stanley Black and Decker, will face as they invest significantly to grow their additive manufacturing programmes.”
