Wenzel 9000 installation

The Wenzel Group, a German specialist metrology manufacturer, has announced the 9,000th installation of its measurement technology in its 50th year in business.
It comes after a particularly fruitful year for the business, Wenzel recording almost €92 million worth of output after strong sales success across the DACH, EMEA, Asia and North America regions. Wenzel counts Rolls Royce, Bentley and Magellan Aerospace among its customer base which continues to grow.
The 9,000th installation was made at voestalpine Krems GmbH in Austria, the same country the company’s first measuring machine was sold nearly 40 years ago.
“In 1981, the very first measuring machine built by Wenzel was sold by GGW Gruber in Austria,” commented Dr. Heike Wenzel, Managing Partner of Wenzel Group. “Now, the 9,000th machine manufactured in the German factory with the serial number 189000 has also gone to Austria.”
On this occasion, voestalpine Krems has implemented the Wenzel LH 1512 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), which the company says will help streamline operations and enhances output to the automotive, construction, energy and wine & fruit industries.
Engineered from granite, the CMM system eliminates heat sensitivity and increases precision. It boasts ergonomic design and sensor choices to facilitate application in situations where high throughput is required. The gantry design of the Wenzel LH 1512 is specifically designed for the inspection of large-volume and heavy workpieces.
“The LH 1512 measures thanks to the swivel head, granite construction and air bearing guide elements in all axes, giving high levels of accuracy,” added Johannes Riha, Managing Director, GGW Gruber, a Wenzel distributor. “It also automatically compensates for temperature fluctuations that affect the workpiece from its chosen setting. Likewise, the integrated air damping compensates for all vibrations from the surrounding environment.”
