INSPHERE to launch BASELINE rapid verification system for machine tool health checks.
UK-based, measurement solutions company, INSPHERE is set to launch its BASELINE rapid verification system for high-value manufacturing next week.
The system has been designed to carry out machine tool health checks in under an hour to deliver clear data and confidence in multi-stage machining processes for high-value, manufactured parts in the aerospace industry.
Using existing laser tracker technology, BASELINE can carry out full verification and machine tool health checks to create a three-dimensional picture of the machining platform and identify errors automatically through a built-in reporting mechanism. It has been engineered for ease of use, without the need for metrology expertise or training, and aims to deliver significant time savings compared to current verification methods which can take up to one week of planned downtime.
The development has been supported by the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP), a 14.4 million GBP programme to mature 40 aerospace technologies in the UK aerospace supply chain, alongside partners Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC) and Rolls-Royce.
INSPHERE have conducted large-scale trials at the Nuclear AMRC where the system will be launched on March 21st. The product development team have carried out rigorous testing of the system using the Soraluce FX12000 horizontal machining platform, capable of working on components up to 12 metres long and is the largest of its kind available for collaborative research and development in the UK.
