The TCT Creative Application Award 2017 is the latest of our category shortlists to be announced.
So far, the shortlists for the Aerospace, Automotive and Consumer Application awards have been revealed. The Creative Product nominees range from Christmas TV commercials to 3D replicas of famous artworks, demonstrating the ingenuity of 3D technology users.
The inaugural TCT Awards will take place on the second night of the annual TCT Show next month. It will recognise and celebrate the most original, creative and impactful applications of 3D technologies in a variety of vertical markets.
Below is the shortlist for the TCT Creative Product Application Award 2017. Each of these submissions will be sent in full to a selection of the TCT Expert Advisory Board. The board compromises many disciplines, and we will be splitting the categories between those who are best placed to judge particular categories.
The winners will be announced on the evening of the awards, taking place on 27thSeptember at the Birmingham Town Hall. British television actor and presenter, Robert Llewellyn, best known for his role as Kryten in cult sci-fi sitcom, Red Dwarf will host the TCT Awards.
TCT Creative Product Application Award 2017 – Shortlist
3D Print Bureau – Sainsbury’s Christmas Commercial
Running Stratasys J750 printer 24/7 for three and a half months, 3D Print Bureau made 1,500 models for the stop-motion animation advert, which won out in the annual Christmas television commercial.
3D Systems – Anomalisa film
3D Systems’ ProJet CJP 660 was used by Starburns Industries to create racks of ultra-realistic, interchangeable faces for the puppets of the Charlie Kauffman and Duke Johnson’s Oscar nominated picture.
Custom prototypes – Van Gogh’s Starry Night Replica
SLA technologies, as well as Custom Prototypes ‘ proprietary finishing techniques, were used to create a stunning replica of Van Gogh’s famous Starry Night painting. The team analysed the painting’s priming technique and replicated it as a 3D model.
Luma-ID – The Power Fist
A 42cm replica of The Power Fist from Sega’s Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III video game, could punch through a brick wall, and was manufactured for a TV advert in just 11 days.
XRobots – Online Content Production
