3D Systems' riot of announcements at International CES in Las Vegas this week has continued with the unveiling of the CubeJet 3D printer.

The 3D printing giant previewed the new machine on the first official day of the global technology event. Priced at under $5,000 (£3,047), this category-defining, desktop 3D printer promises vibrant, full-colour, high-resolution parts for a wide range of modeling and real-use products.

Designed specifically for small businesses, independent entrepreneurs, hobbyists and educators, the CubeJet combines 3D Systems' powerful ColorJet Printing (CJP) technology with its award-winning, easy-to-use consumer Cube
printers’ user experience to
deliver the first truly affordable,
full-color desktop 3D printing
experience.

Rajeev Kulkarni, Vice-President, General Manager, Consumer Products, 3D Systems, said: "Leapfrogging full-colour printing to the prosumer and consumer desktop in a way that's easy to own and simple to operate redefines the 'possible' for designers, educators, architects, marketers and artists. For the first time ever, everyone can access vibrant parts quickly, accurately and affordably."

The CubeJet has been designed for those who need full-colour models and beautifully detailed assemblies that pass for finished products. Capable of building in striking white to photo-realistic pastels and bold, vibrant colour, CubeJet-printed parts communicate design intent that is top of the class, quickly and affordably. The new 3D printer offers better levels of productivity with faster print mode options, improved user convenience with mobile connectivity using tablet computers and smartphones and more powerful colouring and file preparation software tools.

CubeJet printers are expected to commence commercial shipping during the second half of 2014.

As well as having a large presence at CES 2014 in the TCT + Personalize-sponsored 3D Printing TechZone, 3D Systems CEO Avi Reichental will be the keynote speaker at the Don't Believe the Hype? 3D Printing Uncovered conference track on January 8th.
