This week at TCT Show, Sculpteo has announced the direct integration of FDM capabilities to its Fabpilot cloud-based end-to-end 3D printing solution.
With FDM integration, Fabpilot now connects directly to FDM machines to handle industrial production scales and optimise production. Users with multiple FDM machines can connect directly and print from the cloud ensuring traceability and file security.
According to Clément Moreau, CEO and co-founder of Sculpteo and Fabpilot: "FDM is by far the most common 3D printing technology: it’s cost-effective, highly adaptable, and the applications, from a microscopic scale to 3D printing houses, are endless. When thinking about the next progression, it made perfect sense to integrate directly with FDM. I am very proud of releasing this new functionality, which will bring a huge increase in the return-over investment ratio for users."
Alex Gryson, Product Owner, adds "Fabpilot aims to eliminate the insecure and error prone practices of physically moving data around. Machine integration such as with FDMs makes this a reality for any scale of lab or production facility."
Fabpilot is a Software as a Service (SaaS) which enables third parties to manage and optimise their 3D printing fleet through file analysis and repair, file management and versioning, auto-routing for machine scheduling, historical records of settings and configurations, and traceability. Created by Sculpteo and backed with over eight years of in-house development, Fabpilot claims to increase the overall efficiency of production by 35%, improve part quality and reduce operating costs.
With the FDM integration, Fabpilot now aims to support 3D printing in Fablabs, Makerspaces, Educational Programs, and other businesses providing 3D printing services. This will enable multi-machine control, cloud printing by sending the file gcode straight to the printer, quotation and part/order management, performance analytics with direct printer integration for nearly any FDM machine, 2D nesting and optimisation features to maximise the use of the build plate and reduce supports.
