TCT Show 2017
Later this month, TCT Show will return to the NEC, Birmingham to bring together the biggest players and products in design-to-manufacturing technology. From design software through to 3D printing and post-processing, the show floor has got you covered on every step of the end-to-end manufacturing process.
An integral part of that is metrology. More than just an post-manufacturing exercise, engineers and manufacturers are thinking seriously about how advanced measurement and inspection technologies can be applied to the entire value chain and the incorporation of Inspex @ TCT Show aims to shine a spotlight on the products shaping the industry today. Here are just a handful of the latest technologies you can expect to see on the show floor on 25-27th September.
MKS Instruments to present Ophir BeamWatch AM (Stand J16)

MKS Instruments will present the industry's first non-contact laser beam monitoring system for additive manufacturing (AM). Ophir BeamWatch AM is a lightweight, compact system designed for real-time measurement of focal shift during laser start-up for powder bed fusion manufacturing processes. It measures key beam size, position, and quality parameters, including focus spot size and beam caustic. These measurements allow users to more easily determine when the beam is aligned and in focus, providing more consistent metallurgy.
Europac 3D to showcase Kreon ACE portable measuring arm range (Stand M26)

Europac 3D will be showcasing a range of 3D scanning technologies including the Kreon ACE range of portable measuring scanning arms and its fast Skyline range of lasers. The Solutionix C500, the latest in the range of CNC blue light scanners, features interchangeable lenses which provide end users with accuracies from 5 microns at 200mm3 and 10 microns 400mm3. Europac will also be showcasing a range of Artec products including; Leo, EVA and Spider scanners alongside 3D printers from HP and software from Siemens.
See FARO's latest Design ScanArm 2.0 (Stand J50)

FARO will be exhibiting its latest metrology solutions designed to capture complex geometries of prototypes, products and assemblies to increase efficiency in product development. On display will be the FARO Design ScanArm 2.0, which promises 25% improved scanning accuracy compared to its predecessor first launched in 2016. Shortlisted for this year’s TCT Metrology Award, it allows designers and product engineers a customised solution with high accuracy, resolution and ergonomics.
Manchester Metrology to demonstrate range of metrology services (Stand H18)

The metrology solutions provider recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a move to a new premises, five times larger than its original site, in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Manchester Metrology offers specialist contract measurement services using the latest metrology technology and equipment. Visitors to TCT Show this year can expect to see a range of measurement and scanning solutions from leading brands such as Artec, FARO and Creaform.
Renishaw to exhibit AM and measurement technologies (Stand N36)

Along with its portfolio of metal additive manufacturing machines and accompanying software solutions, global engineering firm Renishaw, will also be showcasing its range products and services in measurement, motion control and versatile gauging. Visitors can get a closer look at the latest product enhancements and application examples and speak to Renishaw experts on stand N36.
Olympus to showcase diverse range of opto-digital products (Stand N50)

Olympus is one of the leading manufacturers of opto-digital products for medicine, science and industry, providing a comprehensive range of products for markets as diverse as manufacturing to life science research. Products include the BX53M Upright Microscope and the CIX100 Cleanliness Inspector. Olympus' latest system, the new OLS5000 Laser Confocal Microscope, precisely measures shape and surface roughness at the sub-micron level. Data acquisition is said to be four times faster than previous models and delivers a significant boost to productivity.
See live demos of Nikon Metrology's latest products (Stand K16)

Nikon Metrology offers one of the broadest ranges of metrology solutions for applications, ranging from miniature electronics to aircraft. Nikon Metrology's innovative measuring and precision instruments contribute to a high performance design-through-manufacturing process, that allows manufacturers to deliver premium quality products in a shorter time. The company will have experts on hand at the show delivering live interactive demonstrations of its latest products.
Learn about Central Scanning's reverse engineering and inspection services (Stand G44)

In addition to 3D printers from Stratasys, UK-based Central Scanning will be showcasing its range of 3D scanning hardware from Zeiss and Artec, and associated software. Visitors will be able to learn about the company's 3D scanning, 3D printing, reverse engineering and inspection services and speak to Central Scanning experts about how these technologies can meet their engineering needs.
