Showcasing Roland DG's newest technology, a ceramic 3D printer, Business Development Manager, Peter Kettle says the public will have to a while yet for its market release.
The public are getting the opportunity to see the printer at formnext 2016 before its development has even finished. New jetting technologies make it possible to create complex ceramic objects based on jetting binder material into alumina powder. Ceramic objects are prevalent in the making of heat resistant products and mould making.
Roland believe this printer will also be useful for the aerospace and automotive industries as they seek to shed weight and maintain strength.
With around 30 years experience in the additive manufacturing industry, Roland tend to create generic technologies, allowing users to adapt it of their needs. With this new technology, Roland are preparing to 'put it on the market and see what happens.'
Though the printer is being presented to audiences at formnext, it is still some way away from being retailed. Kettle has revealed there is likely to be changes to the hardware after formnext.
