Cooksongold were presented with the award for Excellence in Science and Technology at the 2016 Birmingham Post Business Awards for its Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing Technology.

The award ceremony took place at the ICC Birmingham last week. It is said to celebrate success, recognise achievement and highlight the innovative people and companies within Birmingham.

This particular accolade was awarded for the precious metal and jewellery making supplier’s pioneering work to drive the jewellery industry forward.

“We would like to thank the organisers for a wonderful evening which showed why Birmingham is really a great city to work within.” Cooksongold Managing Director, Richard Oldroyd said. “The Cooksongold team have worked extremely hard to bring the Precious M 080 technology to a commercial standard and will continue their work providing the jewellery and watchmaking industries with a new production process that will enable the creation of designs that were simply not possible until now.

Utilising the power of 3D CAD design, the Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing system, Precious M 080, enables the creation of intricate 3D designs which would be too time-consuming to make using traditional manufacturing methods to be produced in just a few hours. It produces high quality precious metal designs layer by layer, using a laser to melt fine metal powder. This process is also known as direct metal laser sintering (DMLS).

Oldroyd added: “Cooksongold will continue its support for science and technology within the jewellery industry by providing its high quality service, supplying the tools and materials needed to create beautiful and innovative jewellery.”

Cooksongold is the largest one-stop shop jewellery maker with over 17,000 products, including huge stocks of silver, gold, palladium and platinum bullion cut to your requirements. Their key product categories are further enhanced by their quality selection of packaging and display materials.
