AMS Print Factory Ultimaker
AMS Print Factory will provide manufactures with state-of-the-art set-ups consisting of desktop 3D printers from leading players like Ultimaker.
German desktop 3D printer manufacturer, iGo3D has aligned with fellow European supplier, Grupo Sicnova 3D, to establish the AMS Print Factory brand which will provide professional 3D printing solutions.
AMS, or Additive Manufacturing Solutions, will target a range of vertical markets that harness 3D technology to enhance production.
The goal of AMS is to provide manufacturing companies with 3D printing factories based on professional desktop machines. Ideal for production-on-demand of short runs, AMS will tailor 3D printing factories to each client for each specific need. Major manufacturers are expected to initially leverage solutions to develop new products. Reducing the time to market with these solutions, clients can also save on costs when compared to traditional manufacturing.
At the centre of this partnership between iGo3D and Grupo Sicnova is a real belief that part of the customary manufacturing methods, at least, can be replaced by 3D printing farms made up of desktop machines.
“We still don’t know how much of traditional manufacturing can be substituted by 3D Print Factories, but there are two things we know: First, it has for sure the potential to substitute a very substantial part of the manufacturing process, and second, this substitution is extremely easy to implement and control,” said Diogo Quental, CEO of iGo3D. “Major manufacturers should now start considering these solutions in their core business, and not only in prototyping as is happening so far. We’ve been talking about a 3D revolution, but I think we were only in the warm-up. The real change is to start now.”
Angel Llavero, CEO of Grupo Sicnova 3D, added: “The great challenge of 3D printing is to go from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing. For that we need greater productivity, meaning reliability, printing speed, payback and ease-of-use. The capacity to manufacture many different parts in one day with a price that is competitive with traditional manufacturing for productions of several hundreds of units is the great solution that AMS – Print Factory wants to offer to the European market.”
At the upcoming Hannover Messe later this month, AMS will present desktop solutions from the likes of Ultimaker and Formlabs, highlighting the machines’ capabilities and benefits.
