A year on from the debut of its first metal additive manufacturing product, DN Solutions has opened its first Additive Solutions Center (ASC) in Europe.

The South Korean company, which is the world’s third-largest manufacturer of machine tools, will run its global AM business from the new 1,000 m² site Gütersloh, Germany. It already has two centres operating in Changwon, South Korea and Chicago, U.S..

The Gütersloh centre will act as a hub for AM and CNC technologies and will offer training sessions, live demonstrations, and support for companies launching or scaling their AM operations. A range of DN Solutions machines, including the DLX150, DLX450, DNX2100, DVF5000, Lynx2600, and DNM5700, are currently on site and will be used to process AM components.

DN Solutions says the location holds particular significance due to its proximity to key supply chains, educational institutions, and partners, and builds on the company's recent acquisition of German machine tool manufacturer Heller.

DN Solutions' wider portfolio also includes CNC turning centres, milling machines, 5-axis simultaneous machining centres, mill-turn centres, and automation solutions. In a press release, the company described AM as 'a key element' of its long-term corporate strategy, which combines additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies under a so-called 'AM2CNC' approach. When it introduced its flagship DLX 450 laser powder bed fusion system last April, CEO Wonjong Kim commented that by 2030, DN Solutions is "committed to maximising the synergy between additive and subtractive manufacturing technologies." The company believes its expansion into AM alongside its CNC capabilities will provide an advantage in growth industries such as aerospace, medical technology, and semiconductor.
