Mission-Ready Supply Chains: Additive Manufacturing for Defense

How AM can help to strengthen readiness through secure, localized, on-demand production.

Mission-Ready Supply Chains: Additive Manufacturing for Defense

Live webinar | Wednesday 28 October 2026 | 15:00 GMT · 16:00 CET · 10:00 EST

Defense organizations face vulnerable supply chains, ageing platforms, long procurement lead times, and rising pressure to build secure production capacity closer to the point of need. Industrial additive manufacturing offers a practical route to produce qualified parts on demand, reduce dependence on physical inventories, accelerate development, and improve the availability of critical systems.

In this webinar, three additive manufacturing and defense experts will explain how metal and polymer additive manufacturing can support mission-ready supply chains across air, land, sea, and space. The session will cover rapid prototyping, spare parts and obsolescence management, lightweight high-performance components, localized production, and selected real-world defense and aerospace applications.

Participants will also gain an overview of the factors that matter when moving from an AM use case to a repeatable industrial workflow, including material selection, qualification, process monitoring, traceability, data security, and integration into existing production environments.

About this session

TCT Group Content Manager Sam Davies will be joined by three additive manufacturing professionals operating in the defense sector.

Across a 60-minute session, he will put questions to the panel regarding the current adoption rate of AM in the defense industry, the applications reaching maturity, and the opportunities that distributed production workflows open up.

Some time will also be dedicated for attendees to ask their questions of the panel.

What you'll learn

Who should attend

Those looking to evaluate additive manufacturing technology's readiness for application in the defense sector, and existing suppliers to defense primes.

Speakers

Sascha Hartig | Head of Engineering Principles | German Navy Support Command | AMDefNet Board Member

Captain Dr.-Ing. Sascha Hartig is a German Navy officer, mechanical engineer and AM specialist. After serving as a submarine engineering officer (2017‑2019), he earned his PhD from Helmut Schmidt University (2022) on integration logic for AM in temporary self‑sufficient systems and worked as a research associate there. From 2022 to 2024, he served as Coordinator AM for the German Navy, leading AM projects and strategic initiatives. Since October 2024, he is the Head of Engineering Principles & Additive Manufacturing at the Navy Support Command. His leadership has driven the adoption of AM in naval logistics and training, establishing new standards. In April 2026, he became a founding member and board member of the association AMDefNet.

Matthew Parker | VP of Additive Manufacturing | Hadrian

Matthew Parker is an aerospace and advanced manufacturing executive who has built his career turning emerging technology into qualified, production-ready capability. After developing a deep understanding of complex aerospace systems at United Technologies, he first took metal additive manufacturing from concept to qualified flight reality at Senior Aerospace, where he conceived and launched an AS9100-compliant AM Center of Excellence and qualified dozens of flight part numbers. He later helped scale aerospace and defencse AM capability at Morf3D and Nikon AM Synergy, leading engineering, operations, qualification, and customer execution while connecting additive manufacturing to measurable cost, weight, revenue, and operational impact. He now serves as Vice President of Additive Manufacturing at Hadrian, where he is building scalable AM capability for the next generation of aerospace and defense production.

Onno Verberne | Principal Engineer | Kongsberg

Onno Verberne (PhD) got his Masters’ degree in Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft in 1985 specialized in aircraft structural design. He followed up with a PhD degree from NTNU Trondheim in 1997, on non-linear 3D stress analysis and fracture in composite overwrapped pressure vessels. Between 1985 and 2023, he was employed by Nammo AS in Norway, working with Rocket Motor and space launcher-related design and manufacturing. Since 2023, he has worked at Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace as Principal Engineer with responsibility for the development of airframe structures for future missiles.
