Two metrology and 3D scanning brands have announced a realignment of their metrology and reality capture segments.
FARO’s 3D Measurement business and Creaform will now operate as one under FARO CREAFORM to provide rigorous dimensional measurement for manufacturing and maintenance applications. Per a press release, the company said the united business aims to make metrology more 'mobile, usable, and transformative'.
Fanny Truchon, Business Unit Manager of FARO CREAFORM, said, "FARO CREAFORM is more than a consolidation. By combining the strength of two leaders, we’re opening possibilities that will empower industries to move from hindsight to foresight. FARO CREAFORM aims to become the undisputed leader in portable metrology."
FARO’s reality capture business has also undergone a rebrand. Now known as FARO INSIGHT, this business unit will specialise in reality capture solutions including capture, pointcloud conversion, and data management and sharing for digital‑twin workflows.
Dietmar Wennemer, Business Unit Manager at FARO INSIGHT and Virtek Vision, said, "FARO INSIGHT’s approach is simple: we want to digitize the world. Our hardware and software solutions reduce ambiguity to help track building progress, document changes, digitise crime scenes, structures, mines, forests, and landscapes to provide insights customers can build on."
Both businesses, which operate under AMETEK, Inc., believe the changes will help to ensure continuity, provide clear, timely information, and maintain trust.
