i.Materialise Now Offer 3D Printing in Bronze

Gold, Silver and now Bronze. No, not a cheap effort to cash in on the Olympics, but i.materialise's line up of metals, completed last week with the addition of the habitual third-place metal.

Published:

Following on from 3D printing in sliver, and gold-plating 3d printed stainless steel designs, i.materialise gives you the opportunity to 3D print your creation bronze.

i.materialise are starting us off small, with a build size of 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm — small but plenty large enough to get creative, as deomstrated by some of the test pieces featured here, including the peculiarly titled 'Love Bone' 'Tiki Chess Queen' — a piece made in Tinkercad by user 'Whystler'.

Pricing will be pitched somewhere above that of Stainless Steel, currently priced at $35 for the first 5cm3, then $8 from 5cm3 to 40 cm3, and $7.5 above 40cm3. To get an exact quote you can send your design to i.materialise where it will be assessed and a quote sent back.

While the process is still in trial mode you can expect to see tweaks and improvements in the coming weeks while the team fine-tune the process. To see how it's done, take a look at the video embeeded to the left...

Beyond jewellery, what ideas do you have that would be perfect for realising in bromze?
