Lithoz is introducing new variants of three of its best-selling ceramic materials products.
The new alumina, zirconia and ATZ variants have been optimised for serial production and added to the existing range of premium ceramics for Lithoz’s Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) technology.
Premiered at this year’s Ceramitec trade fair, the new LithaLox alumina material combines the advantages of a high-purity alumina with the ‘uncomplicated processability of the more versatile variants.’ Improvements include achievable wall thicknesses of up to 12mm and an increased solid loading of 55 Vol%, which results in a lower and more uniform shrinkage behaviour, while also enhancing such properties as bending strength.
The new LithaCon zirconia variant has been fine-tuned to further minimise variation of final parts, deliver upgrades in fracture toughness and cleanability, and enable a significant increase in Weibull modulus. Lithoz says the optimised formulation of LithaCon results in an ‘excellent material fit for parts featuring thread geometries,’ such as endosseous screws of dental implants.
Finally, in line with growing demand from the MedTech industry, Lithoz has sought to enhance its LithaCon ATZ material. Now, the company says the material offers perfect biocompatibility, wall thicknesses up to 17mm, and a bending strength of measured 993 MPa. It believes the material will meet the requirements of applications like dental implants, surgical tools, shavers and burs.
