Minima Design Seeks Prototyping Specialist

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced prototyping specialist to join the Minima team to lead and promote prototyping activities for clients in a wide range of industries.

We create, prototype and deliver commercially successful products, services and equipment using an innovation process based on an improved user experience. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced prototyping specialist to join the Minima team to lead and to promote prototyping activities for clients in a wide range of industries.

The role involves hands-on work including CNC machining of patterns, parts, moulds and jigs in support of the design team and also directly for external clients. Additionally, there is a requirement to undertake small scale injection moulding and spray painting as well as precision hand working skills such as silicone casting. The role is also responsible for maintaining equipment, managing supplies of stock materials, work flow and productivity while delivering efficiently under tight timescales.

The ability to be client facing, promote the company capabilities and prepare estimates is also a regular part of the job. The position would suit a self-motivated, independent thinker, with patience and a real pride in their work. A prospective candidate must be well organised and a team player with good attention to detail and the ability to maintain an enthusiastic, positive attitude with a sense of humour.

Requirements include:

Strong skills with SolidWorks and PowerMill CAD software

Ability to CNC machine from data generated above

Expertise with a wide range of workshop machinery

High level of hand finishing craftsmanship in a variety of materials

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team

Liaise with other workshop staff and designers to carry out work

Continually seek to improve both personal and workshop capabilities

Operate within high safety standards

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

PowerMill advanced user

SolidWorks intermediate user

CNC machining

Degree in Model Making or related discipline preferred

Minimum 5 years professional experience

Salary Package

We offer a salary subject to skills and experience with a bonus scheme
