The market for 3D printed iPhone cases has seen incredible growth in the last 12 months — so much so that we saw cases on show at CES that weren't even labelled as 3D printed but obviously were!

Nokia has jumped ahead of the curve by releasing technical documentation for the Nokia Lumia 820 that will aid 3D print fans in making personalized shells for the handset.

Reminiscent of the old 3210 (Best. Phone. Ever.) I used to have with removable covers but with the added advantage of designing and making the shell my way, I am sure this will be a hit. Let us know if you make your own shell, we'd love to see it.

You can find out more over at the Nokia blog, which also has some nice info about how the company uses 3D printing technology in-house, or download the files and specs using the links on the left.
