Protolabs launches AI-powered ProDesk capability to provide real-time quoting and DFM analysis

Protolabs has introduced an AI-Enabled manufacturing platform to accelerate projects from prototyping to production.

ProDesk by Protolabs is said to provide an all-in-one resource for product development and procurement. It utilises real-time, AI-powered quoting with design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis and collaboration tools.

The service provider says the ProDesk DFM analysis capability will serve clients requiring injection moulding, CNC machining and 3D printing services. They will receive instant feedback on parts before they reach the production floor, as well as configurable quotes that include material options, secondary operations, finishes and lead time estimations.

As customers advance through the product development timeline, ProDesk’s Production Catalogue is said to allow users designate parts that are ready for production, simplifying management, organisation, and reordering of those parts. The Production Catalogue can be shared with colleagues, as can all quotes and orders.

“To better serve our customers from prototyping to production, ProDesk serves as the ultimate manufacturing resource for innovation,” Protolabs President and CEO Suresh Krishna said. “We are excited to deliver an online experience that elevates Protolabs as a tech-enabled partner for quality parts throughout the entire product life cycle.”

“Our goal with ProDesk is to deliver an online environment that modernises the experience of working with Protolabs,” added Mark Flannery, Protolabs’ Global Product Director for E-commerce. “The nearly 50,000 customers who will access ProDesk this year will now have an industry-leading online experience that will accelerate product development timelines.”
