You ‘reddit’ here first was going to be my headline for this video but then that would have been a disservice to this fantastic 25 minute mini-documentary by The Verge. Founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian visits the Shapeways Park Avenue HQ to find out how they are revolutionising the world of manufacturing.
The show, Small Empires is a weekly piece and episode five stars Peter Weijmarhausen alongside some of the other Shapeways crew. Alexis is shown around their New York office and production facility, whilst wondering wether you could print bacon with bacon.
This video makes an excellent accompaniment to our TCT article, which we have also published on Urban Times, as Jim Woodcock and Duncan Wood paid a very similar visit to the 3D printing service. See Duncan's slideshow to the left of the page.
In the video Alexis not only interviews Shapeways CEO, Peter Weijamrshausen, on his Philips and Blendr routes but also to Shapeways shop owner GothamSmith. GothamSmith's shop on Shapeways, famed for its cufflinks, is one of the most popular shops on the 3D printing service.
