Several Advanced Laser Materials polymers made available to Farsoon users

Farsoon Technologies has announced expanded material compatibility with high-performance polymer powders from Advanced Laser Materials (ALM).

The partnership, according to Farsoon, further strengthens its open materials ecosystem for industrial Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) applications.

Through the collaboration between Farsoon and ALM, users will be able to leverage several ALM polymer materials, including HT-23, PA11 Black, and FR106, on Farsoon's open polymer systems.

The HT-23 is a high-temperature polymer material made up of high-performance polyetheretherketone (PEKK) and reinforcing fillers like carbon fibres. It has been designed for applications requiring excellent thermal stability and mechanical performance and is said to be ideal for parts in the aerospace, automotive, electronics and industrial manufacturing sectors. ALM has developed the material as a production-grade ULTEM replacement.

ALM's PA 850 Black is a bio-based renewable polymer that exhibits strength and flexibility, while also boasting excellent fatigue and wear resistance. It is said to be suitable for demanding end-use applications in automotive, consumer goods, and industrial sectors and is certified in several industries for long-term performance. With a melting temperature of about 185 °C, it supports a broad range of functional prototypes and production parts.

The FR-106, meanwhile, is a flame-retardant material that maintains a tensile strength of up to 44 MPa and offers excellent electrical insulation properties. It is widely used for electronics housings, railway and automotive interior components, and other safety-critical applications where regulatory compliance is essential. Per ALM, the FR-106 can pass the FAR 25.853 60 second vertical burn test, making it an outstanding choice for aerospace and transportation applications requiring the highest standards in flame resistance.

These materials can be used on such Farsoon platforms as the 1001P, 601P, 403P, and 252P.

This week, Farsoon has been exhibiting at TCT Asia from Hall 7.1, Booth 7F05.
