When Formlabs first launched their Kickstarter campaign they were printing in Grey Resin, they said this would be the standard resin sent out with printers. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on which colour you prefer the Form 1 was shipped with Clear Resin because the grey still needed perfecting.

After some delay the Grey Resin is finally here, in all its neutral tone glory. The resin is available from the Formlabs store immediately priced the same as the Clear Resin at $149 a litre. To give you some idea on how much material that is, take this rook it is 53mm tall, one litre can print 76 of those.

As you expect from Formlabs the resin is of the highest quality and strength. Not only does it print in inexplicably high detail but post-curing the resin makes it as strong as trusty old ABS. Formlabs say that this neutral colour allows the user to carefully inspect fine details and that the matte finish is suitable for immediate presentation or as a base for printing.

Form 1s now come with a choice of the two colours and the team have stated on Kickstarter anyone still awaiting their printer can change from Clear Resing to Grey Resin at no extra charge by contacting them directly.

Whatever you think of Formlabs' shipping speeds it cannot be argued that they aren't thorough, they haven't released a product rashly they've made sure it works and works well.
