Us being trendy editor types an’ all here at TCT + Personalize we’re all working on Macs, when we received the 3D Systems Sense scanner we couldn’t wait to tear open that packaging and have a play, there was a snag: the software was only available on Windows.
“Windows? What is this Windows?” this dumbfounded editor enquired.
Fortunately we had a Windows Laptop in the storeroom with the minimum requirements to get the sense up and running. We’ve done some great scans but really for us all to be using the Sense scanner we were waiting for the Mac software to become available.
We’ve waited a good four months but it is finally here. The Sense software for Mac, and there’s better news too, the latest software has some minor tweaks. New features for V1.1 include improved scan tracking and stability, and upgraded auto-enhance that corrects brightness and colour with just one click. All the usual features are there including the ability to send your scans off to Cubify 2.0 for them to be printed in a wide range of colours, or to print on your desktop 3D printer.
Any problems with the Sense scanner did always feel software related, the scans themselves for the price are remarkable. Tracking can be an issue but if you’re steady enough it worked well, from a very brief play tracking seemed a LOT more stable, losing the scan fewer times than usual.
