Stratasys 3D printing speeds up Formula 1 racing

TCT speaks to Amos Breyfogle, Senior Applications Engineer at Stratasys about how the 3D printing giant is helping McLaren go faster.

As you walked onto the show floor at TCT Show in Birmingham last week, the first thing you could see was the McLaren F1 race car, a bright orange beacon demonstrating how additive manufacturing is impacting the automotive industry and the team's ongoing partnership with Stratasys.

TCT spoke to Amos Breyfogle, Senior Applications Engineer at Stratasys about how the 3D printing giant is helping McLaren go faster with 3D printed prototypes, tooling and end-use parts built on-site and on demand.

"3D printing has a pretty big impact on what McLaren is doing just in letting them iterate faster than they could before," Amos explained. "So whether it’s producing tools or parts to go directly on the car, they can go from an idea to an actual part on the vehicle in a very short amount of time."
