KEYNOTE: 3D Printing Parts for Airbus' Commercial Aircraft Cabins

José I. Ortiz - Head of Technology Product Management, Airbus
Airbus is a long-time user of AM. Primarily used for prototyping, in 2013, Airbus began working on serial applications for civil aircrafts and in 2015, the first serial parts were implemented in Airbus' A350 programme. In addition to serial applications, the aftersales market, for spare and replacement parts, is one of the largest fields of application for Airbus right now as part of its Spares and Upgrade Services. In these areas, where lead-time is key and quantities are relatively low, Airbus has successfully applied this technology on several cases. In this talk, José I. Ortiz, Head of Technology Product Management at Airbus will discuss how the company is leveraging 3D printing to produce parts for commercial aircraft cabins.
The TCT Hall of Fame Panel Session: Exploring the Past, Inspiring the Future

TCT Group Head of Content, Daniel O'Connor will lead a conversation with the three inductees to the TCT Hall of Fame for 2018. By focussing on the foundations laid down by each inductee's pioneering work this panel session will explore the future of series production using AM technologies. PANEL: Progress Towards Acceleration of Additive Manufacturing Standardisation

As AM moves towards serial production, the need to establish clear technology standards becomes ever more prevalent. Mohsen Seifi, Director of Global Additive Manufacturing Programs at ASTM International, will conduct a twenty-minute presentation on the current status of AM standards followed by a panel session examining the recent initiative to establish ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. They will also evaluate the importance of collaborating with stakeholders and review the technical considerations for the ongoing and future AM advancements.

More than just a Geometry… Laser Sintered Parts with Anti-Bacterial Properties

With the use of AM becoming increasingly prominent in a wide range of sectors, the majority of interest lies in the use of geometry to add value to products and components. Many AM techniques, however, present the opportunity to bring further benefits through the incorporation of increased functionality.
This talk will focus on one such possibility – the potential to introduce anti-bacterial capabilities into AM parts. The presentation will examine the results of ongoing work, co-authored by James R. Wingham, Robert D. Turner, Thomas Paterson and Joanna Shepherd, from the University of Sheffield. Candice Majewski will investigate the efficacy of polymer/silver phosphate glass micro-composites to inhibit the growth of, and/or to destroy bacteria, under a range of conditions and with a range of material specifications.

The BMW Group has always been an early adopter of new technologies. Today, they are the leader of incorporating AM processes and materials in the automotive sector. The company has worked hard to set up a strategic roadmap for metal and plastic 3D printing. By creating systematic pilot projects, they have successfully proved that AM is ready for series production. They now use AM to substitute tools for small batches, to personalise and to optimise designs for end-use parts. This presentation will give an insight into how the BMW Group progressed from SLA printing to creating functional, end-use parts with AM, and examine the advancements in the Digital Craftsmanship process chain for MINI Yours Customized.
KEYNOTE: PepsiCo Leverages 3D Printing to Accelerate Packaging Innovation

This presentation will provide an overview of how PepsiCo’s Global R&D team is using 3D printing to design and develop beverage packaging. The session will examine R&D’s strategic partnership with the design department and provide prototyping insights. Andrew Phinney, Packaging Engineer at PepsiCo, will also discuss a recent case study which used 3D printing to create a limited-edition packaging for a movie premiere.
Series of Uniqueness - Design Strategies for Precious Metal 3D Printing

Throughout history, jewellery has enabled people to express themselves as unique beings. Today, Boltenstern develops individual and inspired by nature designs with complex geometries.
This presentation will examine the process of designing, evaluating and optimising additively manufactured jewellery. The session will evaluate how 3D printing can help to emphasise piece characteristics during the detailing and fabrication stages. Marie Boltenstern, Managing Director and Head of Design at Boltenstern, will also review the toolset she developed to create a series of unique jewellery pieces made of precious metals and gemstones.
