LENS 450 Metal 3D Printer
The LENS family of printers are used in key industrial sectors including automotive, aerospace, energy and defence and can produce cost-effective parts for repair work and high performance metal components.
Multistation is leading the way for providing complete solutions of digital and additive manufacturing in France. In the last two years, the Paris based company has opened a Rapid Prototyping demo centre and an additive manufacturing and lattice engineering centre to provide solutions to the aerospace, education, medical, automotive and energy markets.
Optomec's LENS printers use the energy from a high-power laser to build up structures one layer at a time directly from powdered metals. The resulting fully functional metal structures offer excellent mechanical properties, similar to wrought components for many applications.

LENS printers are used in materials research through to repair and rework to low volume manufacturing. The LENS process is uniquely qualified to perform repair operations or to selectively add material in 3D to enhance existing parts produced using conventional manufacturing methods due to its ability to add metal onto an existing substrate of almost any 3D shape. This is particularly useful when compared with ‘powder-bed’ additive manufacturing which require a flat, 2-Dimensional horizontal base.
LENS technology also allows for manufacturers to adopt a hybrid manufacturing approach with a flexible print engine that can be integrated with any existing workflow.
Optomec will feature at this year’s TCT Show + Personalize which takes place between 30th September to 2nd October at the NEC in Birmingham. Register for free here.
