Stryker unveils latest 3D printed orthopaedic device with Triathlon Gold

Stryker has unveiled its latest additively manufactured orthopaedic implant at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) 2026 Annual Meeting.

Triathlon Gold builds on the capabilities and performance of Stryker’s Triathlon system and represents the company’s first commercially available femoral component.

Designed as an option for patients with metal sensitivity concerns, the 3D printed implant features a Titanium nitride surface. It has also been designed to deliver fixation and long-term durability with scratch resistance that is ‘superior to competitive surfaces.’

The medical device manufacturer has also introduced the Triathlon Media Stabilised (MS) Insert, which is described as an advancement in the Triathlon Total Knee System. This device is said to allow customers to leverage the advantages of Mako SmartRobotics and Triathlon Cementless technologies, while the MS Insert is designed to provide enhanced stability for Triathlon primary knee patients and allow more natural rotational kinematics.

"With more than 20 years of proven outcomes, the Triathlon system has set a high standard in knee replacement," said Lisa Kloes, vice president and general manager of Stryker's Knee business. "Triathlon Gold and the Triathlon Medial Stabilised (MS) Insert represent the next evolution of that legacy – solutions shaped by customer insight and designed to meet the evolving needs of patients."

“As the industry continues to evolve, Stryker is expanding our capabilities across orthopaedic specialties,” added Katherine Truppi, President of Stryker’s Joint Replacement division. “Surgeons and patients are seeking more solutions, and these innovations are designed to do just that – helping patients get back to the activities they love.”
