3D Hubs has released its May trend report including the addition of 2,500 new printer locations in its global community in just one month.
Following partnerships with Instructables, Sketchfab and Thingiverse, the company has seen phenomenal growth in it’s network that has increased by 6,000 machines since January.
The world’s largest 3D printing community, which now includes 16,000 3D printers, put the Form 1+ back on top as the highest rated desktop printer by its members whilst the MakerBot Mini rose to second place for the month and former number one, Zortax M200 moved two places to number 3.
On the industrial side, the five-star rated Objet Eden 260 and Projet 3500 HDMax took first and second place whilst newbie to the list, the Stratasys’ uPrint came in at number 10.
3D printing in New York is at a high with 248 machines printing away in the 3D print capital– perhaps following the interest around 3D Print Week New York last month – whilst Los Angeles and Boston grew their networks by 18%.
Joining the 3D printing trendsetters this month are UK based CEL Robox and the Craftbot, demonstrating the success of crowdfunded machines.
Two new countries also earned their pins on the 3D printing map this month as machines from Eritrea and Iraq signed up their 3D printing services to the community.
The report also revealed some good news for small 3D printing businesses as the average order value for gadget, prototype and art/fashion 3D prints increased across the month with scale models taking the crown with an average order value of $57.
And finally, for anyone thinking the excitement around 3D printing is slowing down – think again. 3D Hubs reports that they are now present in more countries than fast food giant McDonalds with a total of over 150 locations across the globe.
