3D Systems has announced the acquisition of American Precision Prototyping (APP) and its sister company American Precision Machining (APM) expanding its reach into the aerospace industry.
The companies are both expert providers of rapid prototyping and advanced manufacturing, product development and engineering services and could help 3D Systems gain a significant aerospace presence.
APP is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and provides high quality, fast-turn around rapid prototyping and manufacturing services with an in house system that offers free instant online quotations for rapid manufacturing briefs.
Vice President and General Manager of Quickparts for 3D Systems, said, “APP and APM bring a wealth of experience and bench strength in both advanced manufacturing and the aerospace industry that is highly complementary to our offerings. This acquisition further enhances our North American capabilities and expertise.”
APP and APM bring over 24 years of experience in advanced prototyping and manufacturing services to the 3D Systems empire. The merger will give them the expertise needed to expand their reach into the aerospace industry and bring a network of key relationships and regional infrastructure within the sector.
Jason Dickman, President of APP, said, “We have been a long standing customer of 3DS’ SLA and SLS printers, materials and software, and we couldn’t be more excited to join the team as it positions us to provide unparalleled parts services to our customers far into the future.”
The development further extends 3D Systems service bureau operations in the United States with a wider community of customers and an advanced on demand manufacturing service.
