Physical Digital, one of the UK’s leading bureau services for 3D scanning and measurement using the GOM system, had the opportunity to talk to delegates at TCT Show + Personalize about the importance of accurately scanning legacy components.
At the presentation, given in the show’s seminar area, Physical Digital MD, Tim Rapley talked about the difficulties companies of all types face when trying to recreate components that were designed and made several years ago.
Often, a lack of accurate design measurements mean that companies can’t just rely on the paperwork to get things right, and this has a knock-on effect not just on the success of a reverse engineering project, but on the overall quality of the new project.
Using sophisticated 3D scanning, measurement and analysis, Physical Digital’s customers have acquired precise data for a wide variety of legacy components, enabling them to reproduce, rebuild or re-engineer heritage products including cars, aircraft and museum pieces.
“It was a pleasure to be able to give a presentation at TCT as well as exhibiting at the show,” said Mr. Rapley. “It was a fantastic event, and we met some great businesses that we’re hoping to work with in the future. TCT is one of our favourite shows, and we’ve already booked for next year.”
