Metal is still very much the hot topic in 3D printing and as we saw from the 38 metal systems on the floor TCT Asia last week, the market is showing no signs of slowing down with companies all over the globe aiming to take a sizeable chunk of the pie.
One of those is Dutch company, Additive Industries which last year stated its ambition to grow to a top three position in the metal AM sector by 2022 with its MetalFAB1 system. Today, the company has announced its next step in realising this ambition as it gets ready to move its Eindhoven headquarters to a brand-new factory close to its current location early next month.
The new site will consolidate its headquarters, development and system assembly, and test operations divisions, which are currently spread over two locations in Eindhoven, into a new facility which is roughly seven times the size of its current facilities combined.
Set to officially open later this year, the new factory will be located in a former Philips Electronics building from the 1950s. The building has recently undergone a renovation to deliver the highest energy-efficiency and environment for Additive Industries' growing teams. Commenting on its 'Northern lights' roof structure and glass walls, Additive Industries says the light and open style is an "expression of sustainability and transparency".
Daan A.J. Kersten, CEO of Additive Industries, commented: "We are proud to again move into a great example of Dutch industrial heritage where we have been able to preserve the great architecture of the past and simultaneously add a touch of modernism. This makes a fantastic home for a fast-growing digital manufacturing technology company like us."
