In our second preview, the focus is on the companies who will be exhibiting at the 11th Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing International Conference. The conference attracts both the large AM industry players and small to medium size enterprises alike, all in what is likely to feel like a more intimate setting compared to other events in the AM and 3D Printing conference calendar. We’ve cherry picked some of this year’s exhibitors to give you a flavour of what to expect from this year’s conference.
The 11th International Conference on Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing brings together industry and academia experts to focus on the latest developments in an ever evolving AM world and discuss emerging future directions of AM research and technology. The conference provides the setting to do this and is an excellent opportunity for companies to exhibit their services directly to key decision makers within industrial and academic circles.
This year’s headline event sponsor is Stratasys Strategic Consulting. The consulting division of Stratasys is led by AM industry luminary Dr Phil Reeves following the acquisition of his consultancy firm Econolyst by Statasys in the early part of 2015. The purchase was undoubtedly a no brainer for Stratasys following the success of Econolyst in delivering highly respected AM consultancy and research services around the world. Through the acquisition Stratasys broadened their service offering, giving themselves another arrow in the quiver as drivers of industry adoption of AM. Most importantly, Stratasys Strategic Consulting is entirely technology agnostic which, given the myriad of 3D printing technologies and machine manufacturers to choose from, is absolutely critical to delivering the very best to their clients.
The pre-conference reception sponsor and organisers of this year’s conference is Added Scientific Ltd. Formed in 2014, Added Scientific (ASL) is a spin-out from the University of Nottingham’s Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Research Group. Given the extensive level of expertise within the company as a result of the wide-ranging research activities of the company founders, Added Scientific is uniquely placed as an independent voice for AM implementation across the 3D printing technology spectrum. Despite the relative infancy of the company, ASL has an enviable list of clients who turn to them for a number of services, from consultancy, workforce training and expert analytical reports right the way through to a range of bespoke and tailored technical services: process optimisation, material innovation and design and simulation software systems.
This year benefits from a number of first time exhibitors at the conference, such as Physik Instrumente Ltd, LPW and North Star Imaging UK. Physik Instrumente is a leading precision motion and positioning systems provider with a portfolio of innovative actuation and positioning solutions using a wide array of technologies. Their hard work and innovation was rewarded earlier this year as they received the “Manufacturer of the Year” award at the Motion and Control Industry Awards. LPW is a market leader in the development and supply of quality metal powders to the AM industry. They are able to provide a number of optimised ‘off-the-shelf’ powders in addition to providing custom and developmental alloys based on the individual needs of their customers. Alongside the provision of materials they are able to offer material analysis and a portfolio of powder management products to improve AM process efficiency in your business. The last stop on our tour of new comers is North Start Imaging (NSI). Established in the USA, NSI produces a range of digital X-ray and computed tomography systems which can help verify the quality of Additively Manufactured components. In an industry where the demand for part verification and validation is becoming increasingly significant, NSI are well placed to help their customers deliver the very best products.
We also welcome back a number of well-known exhibitors who have been with us from the early days of the conference. The printing bureau, 3T RPD, join us again with their growing service offering in the production of prototypes and end-use parts in plastic and metal AM for a number of disparate and high value industries. From Belgium, our friends Materialise will be showing us why they continue to thrive in the AM and 3D Printing industry with their far reaching and innovative portfolio of products and services. Other familiar names coming back to exhibit with us this year include Laser Lines, Aerotech and Lambda Photometrics.
